The table is a reinterpretation of the original rectangular 1940s table from Confiserie Bachmann in Basel. Similar to the old table, the new Bachmann table also has a black glass top that subtly reflects the space, surrounded by a dark wood frame. But in contrast to the earlier condition, the new, three-sided orientation of the café required a round, more space-saving form for the table. The challenge was to develop a bistro table with a single wood leg that supports it stably at the center.
